Test OptimizerWhy you will miss the world premiere of a web service for fully automatic test planning, optimization, and design at the ICMCTF 2015?

by N. Schwarzer

After sending an official letter from San Diego University confirming that we are doing project work with the SDU and therefor are staying in San Diego during the time of the ICMCTF (and longer) to the ICMCTF-representatives, I received this e-mail from Phyllis Green:

Thanks Mabel,
If they were really sneaky and smart they would make a room reservation for one night at the T & C as a triple accommodation, then they all could claim their one room reservation number on their registration forms.

Please do not offer this idea to them, they have plenty of money to pay the higher fee or stay at the hotel.

We have witnessed this type of room reservation sneakiness in previous years. It isn't a new concept.

After that the SIO-Team decided not to go to the conference in 2015, neither for booth nor talk nor poster presentations.

We also forwarded Mrs. Green’s message to the SDU.
The SDU representative answered that he considers the ICMCTF-accusation an “extreme insult” and pointed out that a simple Google Scholar research should have shown, that the SDU-SIO-project work is authentic.
In case you are interested in the project work we are doing with SDU, just let us know or simply do the suggested research on Google Scholar.

After all that, we decided not to come to the 2015 ICMCTF but intensify our other US-projects especially those with SDU.
Therefore, of course, we will not be able to give our presentations at the conference.

The presentations we are not going to give at ICMCTF 2015 are:

  • N. Schwarzer: “Optimum Design Rules for Diffusion Based Devices”, F6-1-5 (to be presented Tuesday, April 21, 2015 9:20 AM)
  • N.Schwarzer, N.Bierwisch, Evaluating Intrinsic Stresses from Multi Axial Indentation Measurements – A New Application for the Next Generation of Indentation Devices, TS2-2-8 (to be presented Friday April 24, 2015, 10:20 AM)
  • N.Bierwisch, N. Schwarzer, M. Fuchs: Shadow Effects in Nanoindentation - Is It Possible to Extract Information of Every Point Within a Coating Substrate System by Contact Mechanical Testing? BP-37 (to be presented Thursday, April 23, 2015, 5:00 PM)
  • M. Fuchs, N. Bierwisch, N. Schwarzer: "Determination of physical material parameters of each layer of hard multi-layer coatings using a combined calotte-indentation approach"
  • N. Schwarzer, M. Fuchs, N. Bierwisch: "Assessment of time-dependent mechanical behavior of cells, biomaterials and their interfaces"

The presentations we are going to present at the SVC TechCon 2015 in Santa Clara:

  • N. Schwarzer: "About the Possibility for a Holistic Toolbox for the Next Generation of Surface and Coating Optimization - Taking the Example of TCOs in Touch Screens", keynote presentation, Monday, April 27, 12:50 p.m.
  • N. Bierwisch, N. Schwarzer: "Evaluating True Coating Properties from an Indentation Measurement Series – A New Combination of Calotte Grinding and Indentation Tests", MED-6, Tuesday, April 28, 11:40 am
  • N. Bierwisch, N. Schwarzer: "How to Design Contact Experiments Properly to Test the Adhesion Performance of a Coating Substrate System", Poster-2, Tuesday, April 28, 3:30 pm
  • M. Fuchs, N. Bierwisch, N. Schwarzer: "Quantifying Time-Dependent Mechanical Behavior of Visco-Elastic Materials or Materials at Elevated Temperatures", Poster-3, Tuesday, April 28, 3:30 pm
  • A. Jarvis, A. Yerokhin, N. Schwarzer: "Multi-Scale Mechanical Behaviour of Plasma Electrolytic Oxide (PEO) Coatings on Aluminium Alloys", L-18, Wednesday, April 29, 9:40 am
  • M. Fuchs, N. Schwarzer: "New and Most Recent Ultra-Hardness Findings – Real or Nonsense?" T-17, Thursday, April 30, 12:00 pm

The presentations we are going to present in Hawaii:

  • several top secret presentations about new super light weight constructions for a privat company

The presentation we are going to present at Ohio State University:

  • N. Schwarzer: "Earth crust simulations and earth quake prediction? A feasibility study using new material science approaches coming from thin film technology"

We apologize to everybody who intended to see one of these presentations!

However, as we are staying in San Diego due to our SDU-project work anyway, we encourage everybody truly interested in our work, to meet us personally during the time of the conference.

Offer of amends to all ICMCTF participants

As a special treat and partial compensation you are invited to use our new Test Optimizer webservice for optimum measurement design of thin films and coatings directly online from only 1 € (excl. VAT).
